Christmas update

We are all about to crawl into bed. A 12:30pm nap sounds perfect to all six of us on a cold, cozy Christmas day. See, we had 4 (yes 4) vomiting kids last night. Isaac spent the majority of the night on the couch... sitting so the baby would doze. I spent time catching a few winks between holding buckets, soothing tears and rubbing backs. Tay woke at 4:30am and saw his Hot-wheel track set up in front of the fireplace which kept him wired for many long minutes.

The gift giving time was magical. Everyone was sleepy and excited. I believe we had more squeals and shrieks this year than ever before. I smiled to myself as I remembered thinking that we had scaled back, worrying that the kids would notice.

No one really ate any breakfast. Toys were explored, games were played, books perused and then.... nothing. A silent time of yawns...and then a plaintive 8 year old asks for a warm bath... the other two echo the sentiment... and the dream was born.

Sleep will be a welcome solace.

Hopefully we can revel with extended family later, celebrating.

We shall see. But, for now, I care not.

Good night!
